What we are

History

Kerala State Handicapped Persons Welfare Corporation Ltd (KSHPWC) is a public sector undertaking under Government of Kerala , registered as per Companies Registration Act 1956 (No 1 of 1956) and was established in 1979. The aims and objectives of the company are to formulate, to promote and implement any schemes for the rehabilitation and improvement of  living condition of  Persons with Disabilities under 21 categories. KSHPWC instituted its head office at Poojappura since 1979, established its Regional Office in Erankulam and started working since 2005 , Kozhikode since 2012, recently in 2025 established District Office at Kasaragod in 2025. Over the years the Corporation has provided various assistance to  persons with disabilities in Kerala.

With a view to provide standardized and quality Aids & Appliances to persons who are physically challenged, A manufacturing unit called MRSTC (Manufacturing, Repairing, Servicing and Training Centre) was established in 2000 and it was upgraded and renovated with innovative machineries in 2021 and is functioning at Kottamam, Thiruvananthapuram. So as to promote and sell the products manufactured by Persons with Disabilities and to avail the supplies to MLAs and other dignitary, KSHPWC established an Extension Counter at MLA Quarters in Palayam.


Vision & Mission

Vision
Act as a Renovator in the rehabilitation process of  persons with disabilities in Kerala. Generate awareness about the present day challenges of  persons with disabilities and navigate use of technologies for their betterment. Providing quality aids and appliances to persons with disabilities for their better mobility to lead a normal life. Generate employment opportunities to persons with disabilities as far as possible.

Mission
As a state organization strives to be recognized as one of the most progressive entities for providing services of unequivocal excellence to persons with disabilities for their protection, capacity building and total empowerment & rehabilitation. To plan and formulate programmes and policies for the total enrichment/rehabilitation of  persons with disabilities in Kerala.


What We Do

Kerala State Handicapped Persons Welfare Corporation is a registered body under social justice department, Government of Kerala. It is an approved implementing agency of various schemes, projects and programmers of State Government and Central Government. As many people with disabilities depend on assistive devices to enhance their ability to perform various tasks, participate in activities, and maintain independence and thus be productive in their life, KSHPWC solely concentrates on the rehab technology to attained the to assist PwDs to attain the specified course.

Based on the right of persons with Disability Act, KSHPWC tries to empower the PwDs “through the distribution and promotion of appropriate devices, mobility aids in order to make them easily reach the equalization, social inclusion and participation. Thus, KSHPWC concentrates on the CBR Approach (community based approach) and Multisectorial Approach to address the multiple needs and issues of PwDs. As the state Channelizing agency of NDFDC (National Differently Abled Finance Development Corporation) through the various Loan schemes, KSHPWC promote self employment, livelihood, education and mobility.
